LNG 4,5
The subcontract with IHI Corporation of Japan consists of the construction of two LNG tanks,140,000 m3 each, for RasGas in the Ras Laffan
Industrial City.
The tanks are cylindrical, reinforced and posttensioned having a diameter of 80 m each and a height of 38 m.
The tanks roof is hyperbolicmade of welded steel plates and strengthen with reinforced concrete.
Each tank is built on stabilized and strengthened soil. The total concrete quantity is 32,000 m3 with 5,460 T of reinforcement, including 800 T of cryogenic steel to tolerate the extremely low temperature of the LNG.
The post-tensioning was carried out horizontally and vertically allowing for an additional 400 T of stands per tank. The cathodic protection and the heating conduit systems are also included in our scope.
